Never stop striving for excellence

On the eve of the release of the Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (DSE) results on last Wednesday, the Chief Executive and principal officials visited schools to show our support to the students. I also visited my alma mater, Pui Shing Catholic Secondary School, to meet my younger schoolmates.

I am happy to see that these young students have been contemplating and planning for their future, and working hard to equip themselves for the challenges ahead. I came from a grassroots family and was not a brilliant student at all when I started secondary school. My classmates and I put in extra efforts, supported and encouraged each other, and eventually achieved respectable results in the exam to earn admission to university.

The young people today have far better potential and are more creative than my generation does. They also have more choices in education and employment. DSE is just one of the many chapters of our lives. No matters what the exam results are, I hope the students can always stay positive and never give up, learn from the experience and difficulties they faced, and work even harder to strive to make progress.
