Safeguarding our home: Drainage infrastructure of Hong Kong
A gist of the blog:
The Government has all along been investing heavily in infrastructure to enhance city’s efficiency, increase land supply and improve the living environment. Many of these infrastructures play a pivotal role in protecting people’s lives and properties from threats posed by disasters such as flooding and landslide. This is also one of the Government’s key responsibilities. One notable example of these important infrastructures is the Hong Kong West Drainage Tunnel and the Happy Valley Underground Stormwater Storage Scheme commissioned by the Drainage Services Department, and the relevant work carried out by the Civil Engineering and Development Department and Water Supplies Department.
