APEC Finance Ministers' Meeting
A gist of the blog:
I returned to Hong Kong on last Wednesday following the annual meetings of the IMF (International Monetary Fund) and World Bank Group. I departed again on the next morning for Hoi An, Vietnam to attend the Finance Ministers' Meeting (FMM) of the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation).
At the APEC FMM, a number of finance ministers pointed out that while the global economy was undergoing recovery, we should be mindful of the rising protectionist and anti-globalisation sentiment. In particular, there are individual advanced economies which have from time to time contemplated trade protection measures to resurrect trade barriers. APEC will continue to be a key international platform in forging collaboration to realise sustainable, balanced and inclusive economic growth of the region.
