Hong Kong Fintech Week

The second annual Hong Kong Fintech Week, led by Invest Hong Kong, was successfully concluded last week. The scale of Fintech Week this year is even larger, with more than 4 000 leaders and key players of the Fintech sector and 300 speakers from over 50 countries attending the events.

Participants in this year's Fintech Week came from all around the world, clearly demonstrating Hong Kong's potential to develop into a global Fintech hub. Indeed, with the concerted efforts of the Government, regulators and the industry, a market-driven Fintech ecosystem has gradually taken shape in Hong Kong. Last year, a total of 138 Fintech companies started up in Hong Kong, representing a year-on-year increase of 60%. We currently have four Fintech-related accelerators and host more than 200 Fintech-related activities every year. Last month, the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, the Securities and Futures Commission and the Insurance Authority have also announced initiatives relating to Fintech sandboxes to further promote the Fintech development in Hong Kong.
