Visit to Beijing
A gist of the blog:
Last week, I visited Beijing and called on a number of central authorities that I have been working closely with. We had a fruitful exchange on matters related to finance, trade and commerce, innovation and technology and Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area Development.
During the visit, I also officiated at the kick-off ceremonies of two internship programmes for university students from Hong Kong and had a chance to chat with the students. They were taking part in the Youth Internship Programme at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the summer internship programme organised by the Fin Society, and will work and study respectively in the country’s top scientific research institute and several major financial institutions. The Home Affairs Bureau also organise three other internship programmes for young people at the Palace Museum in Beijing, the Wolong National Nature Reserve in Sichuan as well as in Dunhuang, Gansu. These programmes offer valuable opportunities for participants to deepen their understanding of the latest development in heritage, cultural and nature conservation in our country.

All these internship programmes are worth supporting, as they provide young people the chances to experience different cultures, customs and lifestyles of different places, and help broaden their horizon through mutual understanding, respect and inclusion. I believe the experience participating in these internship programmes will bring substantial benefit to their future career.
