Actively Integrate into the Overall Development of Our Country and Participate in the Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation
The 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China (CPC) was held and concluded with victory. The CPC Central Committee, with General Secretary Xi Jinping at the core, has steered China towards realisation of its first centennial goal by building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and bringing China into a new era of socialism with Chinese characteristics. The 20th National Congress has called on the nation to achieve the second centennial goal by embarking on a new journey of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects, and advance the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation with Chinese-style modernisation on all fronts.
The important speech delivered by the General Secretary is encouraging and inspirational, boosting our confidence in the future of our country. It has not only strengthened our resolve to fully implement the “One Country, Two Systems” principle for building a better Hong Kong, but has also reinforced our drive to further integrate into the overall development of our country. Under the scientific guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, the cause of “One Country, Two Systems” has been advancing steadily in the right direction, enabling Hong Kong to write its success story and compose even more magnificent chapters in the days to come.
Hong Kong is a part of China and we are members of the Chinese nation. It is, therefore, our undeniable responsibility and mission to fully devote ourselves and contribute to the rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, while our country is striving towards its second centennial goal.
Today, with patriots administering Hong Kong, it is important that we fully, accurately and faithfully implement the “One Country, Two Systems” principle. We must provide stronger impetus for economic growth on all fronts, creating favourable conditions for resolving deep-seated conflicts through economic development. We must earnestly address issues relating to people’s livelihood and keenly embrace challenges. Moreover, we have to better leverage Hong Kong’s position and advantages as an international financial centre as well as international innovation and technology hub, and proactively realise the potentials of the world-class cluster of cities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, so as to seize new and historic opportunities brought by the 20th National Congress of the CPC and promptly make breakthroughs in our economy and people’s livelihood. By capitalising on our strengths, we can serve our country’s needs and contribute to the social and economic development in Hong Kong and our country.
Our country is committed to deepening reform in a sustained manner, promoting higher quality economic development, accelerating the construction of a new development pattern and upholding the principle of having “technology as the prime production force, talent as the prime resource and innovation as the prime driving force”. Hong Kong’s economy is also moving towards higher quality and more diversified development. The Policy Address which has just been delivered by the Chief Executive has made our overall strategy clear. Under our governing philosophy of better alignment of “a capable government and a highly efficient market”, we will highlight the role of innovation and technology in fostering economic development, proactively and holistically co-ordinate and implement policies, and resolve the deep-seated conflicts and issues arising in the course of social and economic development, thereby enabling Hong Kong to integrate into the overall development of our country in a more comprehensive and in-depth manner.
The world is changing with the times. Our country’s sustained development is providing new opportunities for the world. Our country’s dedication to openness and mutually beneficial development has fostered an international environment conducive to development. Our country is also working with the international community to generate new impetus for global development. As our country’s international financial centre, Hong Kong has to shoulder greater responsibility and carry out the honourable mission to contribute more proactively to our country’s development. Hong Kong shares the Chinese Dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
